I’m totally not watching that replay from last year... I remember that day last year, when Kyle stupid Busch won, I kicked one of my sister’s stuffed animals into her bathroom! That was after she jumped up and down on it over and over of course... Hoping for a waaaaaaayyyyy better race this year - kinda like the one in the spring...

I agree with you Brendon. You were sort of lucky that you only had to watch that crap from home? How the hell do you think I feel when I had to see that in person? Lol.

The Spring race was a lot of fun though. Where we sit is right across from the Cup Garage Area. So we got to watch them load up Kyle's car before the race was even over.

I hope you took pictures or a video or something... That's certainly something I would have liked to document. lol Also, Kevin dominated that race, so it was a doubly fun race for me!

YAY... the one race track i wish they would fill it in with water and hold bass tournaments, and just forget how bad their race track was.

Yes, I did summon my inner Kyle Petty.

Well there’s some excitement thanks to mother nature, qualifying’s rained out and with the field set on points, this will be a legitimate shot to see who has what kind of speed. Especially amongst the top 4.

I hate how the K&N series is treated a lil like an afterthought (not saying you did). I just wish it was respected more and put out there a little more.

    I agree with you.

Unfortunately the rain today had to screw everything up. From Cup qualifying being cancelled to the K&N race getting postponed until tomorrow morning. There is also a chance of rain in the morning. I think if qualifying didn't get cancelled then we would have seen a whole different story of who was starting up front.

Just wondering why the 4 car did not have to start from the back when he was the lucky dog?

That race went from meh to great seeing Chase win. Sucked for Jimmie's car but glad to see the 9 get another win. I'd like to see Larson have a comeback now.

Missed the race, going to do some facts anyway.

Chase Elliott won his second career race, and 2018 is the second year in a row where a driver got their first two wins. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. accomplished this last year. The last driver before Stenhouse to accomplish this was Denny Hamlin, who won two races in 2006. Carl Edwards won his first four races in 2005. In 2002, Kurt Busch won his first four races and Jimmie Johnson won his first three. Kevin Harvick, who led the most laps today, accomplished this in 2001. Dale Earnhardt Jr. did this in 2000 after Tony Stewart did it in 1999. Jeff Burton did this in 1997. Overall, this happened 7 out of 10 years from 1997 - 2006, but didn't happen at all from 2007 - 2016.

Jeff Gordon, Chase Elliott's predecessor at that Hendrick team, accomplished this in 1994, or 24 years ago.

Chase Elliott joins Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Ryan Blaney, and Kyle Larson as active drivers that have multiple wins but have not won on any of the "cookie-cutter" 1.5 mile tracks. Kasey Kahne and Ryan Newman both have 18 wins. Newman has 3 wins on cookie-cutters, while Kahne has 8. Joey Logano and Martin Truex Jr. both have 19 wins. Logano has 4 cookie-cutter wins, while Truex has 9.

Speaking of Harvick leading the most laps, this is the SEVENTH race in a row where the driver who led the most laps failed to win the race. The last streak of at least seven races was from the 2016 Hollywood Casino 400 (Kansas) to the 2017 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 (Atlanta). This streak lasted eight races. Chase Elliott led the most laps in this race last year and failed to win.

Jimmie Johnson won the last 404-lap Dover race in 2005, while the last 404-lap race on any track was the 2017 fall race at Richmond.

Harvick led more laps this afternoon (286) than Chase Elliott has this season (265).

Due to the presence of Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon, Hendrick Motorsports has won multiple races in a season every year since 1994. Chase Elliott won Hendrick's second race of the year today. It also ensured that at least one driver had at least 10 top-fives at Hendrick every year since 1995.

Martin Truex Jr. finished 15th - he still does not have a 6th-10th place finish this season. All of his top tens are also top fives. Truex had at least twice as many top tens as top fives in the first 11 years of his full time career.

Chase Elliott led the final 11 laps, and Kyle Busch led 21 laps. Ford drivers led the other 372 laps. Martin Truex Jr. led all of Toyota's laps last week. The last time that all three manufacturers had multiple drivers lead laps was at Las Vegas three weeks ago, where three drivers for each brand led a lap.

Chase Elliott joins Jimmie Johnson as active drivers to record their second career win at Dover. Johnson also won his third career race at Dover.

Due to recent discussions in the chatbox, it occurred to me that @dalejr88rox seems to dwell on a certain event that involved my favorite driver a few years ago. He mentions about once every race weekend. This is how I imagine that he watched Sunday's race (minus expletives):

    1) Pre-race Harvick interview: Matt says to himself, "Hey, there's the guy that wrecked the field at Talladega a few years back." *Turns channel to Bengals game*

    2) Kevin Harvick makes pass on Kyle Busch for lead: Matt yells, "Better watch out, Kyle - he might take you out like he did to everyone else at Talladega!"

    3) After Harvick dominates stages 1 & 2: Matt says, sulkingly, "Shoot! I guess he won't have to take the whole field out next week if he keeps this up..."

    4) Harvick's pit crew ends his chances at a win: Matt quickly exclaims, "YES!" But then something dawns on him and he says, "Oh no! Now he'll probably wreck the whole field next week so he can advance!"

    5) After post-race Harvick interview: Matt gives a sort of faux news announcement in which he says, "Attention, world: Harvick will now embark on his mission to wreck the field at Talladega next Sunday. Tune in Sunday at 2:00 pm to watch this historic feat."
