For what it's worth: Kyle Larson's team was penalized 10 points following the failure of post Talladega inspection, after NASCAR found unapproved metal tabs that were used to make repairs during the race. His likely must win situation becomes even more so, going from 26 to 36 points out, assuming a final appeal (the first was was denied) is denied. Chad Johnston was also fined $25,000, and car chief David Bryant was suspended for 1 race. Larson would have been parked had NASCAR noticed the violation prior to post race inspection.

You've got to give Larson credit though, he's not one to give up easily, even when he's having a crap day. I think he'll recover nicely to win this weekend.

With Nemechek's win today, Brennan Poole is now the only driver for CGR's Xfinity program and not win in the past four years.

That's because JHN and Chastain are good. Poole is just below that.

This place has been a freaking monster since the repave. Easily two dozen cars wrecked so far this weekend and this is an elimination race in Cup so I don't expect any different today.

Regardless if Chase gets eliminated later he's had a great year, cool to see him win again.

I don't know, Truex might be in a bit of trouble if they don't start running better. Chase is on it, Harvick and Busch need to have a catastrophic Round 3 and all of SHR is running really hot right now. Chase might be fine.

Missed the race today, gonna do the best I can with fun facts.

This is the NINTH straight race where the driver who led the most laps didn't win the race. This is the longest streak since 2005-06, from the fall Charlotte race until the spring Bristol race. This span was eleven races.

This is the third straight week where a driver took the lead for the first time and didn't give it up before winning the race. Elliott did it at Dover as well, and Almirola only led the final lap at Talladega.

The last time Joey Logano led more than 100 laps in a race was the 2016 fall Texas race. That race was Carl Edwards' last win. The last time he led more than 100 laps and won the race was the first Michigan race in 2016. Interestingly, Joey Logano also led more than 100 laps in Jeff Gordon's final win back in 2015.

Kimi Raikonen's previous F1 win took place in Australia on March 17, 2013. The 2013 Food City 500 at Bristol also occurred that day, and like today, Kyle Busch finished 2nd and Jimmie Johnson finished 22nd. A Hendrick car also won the race, and Brad Keselowski was the penultimate leader of the race.

Chase Elliott has now won three races this season with three different primary sponsors. Martin Truex Jr. accomplished that same feat driving for three different teams in a nine-year span. Joe Nemechek did this for four teams over five years.

Speaking of Nemechek, his son won his first race yesterday at the track where Joe won his final Xfinity and Cup races on the same weekend in 2004. The last time second-generation drivers won two races in a weekend was...at Darlington, where Brad Keselowski won both races. The last time this happened with two different drivers was in the spring at Texas, where Ryan Blaney and Johnny Sauter won races. Austin Dillon, a third generation driver, won at Daytona in February after Johnny Sauter won the Truck race on that Friday.

Back-to-back finishes outside the top-10 for Kevin Harvick.

Unbelievably, this is the first time it has happened all season.
