Welcome to the Sin City for the second round of the SRD Truck Series Playoffs. This will be our first elimination round, meaning after this week two playoff contenders will be eliminated from competing for the 2018 SRD Truck title. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway facility first opened in 1972 as a dragstrip and evolved all the way until 1996 when the 1.5 mile speedway we know today was completed. Today the facility features the 1.5 miler, a 0.375 bullring oval, the half mile Dirt Track at Las Vegas, and of course the original quarter miler drag strip.
The SRD Trucks have visited this facility only once before with Daniel Asher scoring the victory in 2016.
Last Week: A wreckfest at Iowa, D.J. Harris was able to put his Wichelman Motorsports truck on the pole with a new series record at the track, 22.961. What followed was nothing short of astonishing, NINE CAUTIONS, starting on lap three when we had a four-wide race for position gone wrong causing a four truck pileup. We would eventually make it to see the last 40 laps or so of green flag racing as Mike Ehresman absolutely checked out from the rest of the remaining 12 trucks on track to score his third victory of 2018 and lock himself into round two of the SRD Truck Series Playoffs.
Race length: 107 laps, 160.5 miles
Stage 1: 50 laps
Stage 2: 57 laps
2016: Trey Coleman (31.016)/Daniel Asher
