I've been itching to make a new car set and a road course racing set, so I decided to come up with something unique. I wanted to paint a set on a mod that hasn't gotten a lot of love from the NR2003 community, so I decided on the Smiffsden UK Pickup Trucks mod. The set is basically a truck version of Formula 1, with a world championship and grands prix in different countries.

RedBull Racing

After a number of exhibition races, the RedBull Racing duo performed strongest and earned the #1 and #2. Dutchman Harvey Von Barnswallow is expected to be the favorite for the championship.

The #2 will be piloted by the young Brit Greg Merriweather, who got his big break with RedBull after a strong performance in the BTCC.

Deutsche Post Toyota

Deutsche Post Toyota is the culmination of German engineering and Japanese reliability. With heavy backing from Toyota, the team looks to take the fight to the RedBull Holdens.

Wolfgang Günther is the team's lead driver, with the stoic German leading a very German team. While he may not be very talkative, Wolfgang would rather let his driving do the talking and is considered a favorite for the title.

Thor Olofsson is the biggest driver on the circuit, and quite possible the scariest. Hailing from Sweden, and towering at 6'4", Thor barely fits in his car, but is known for his incredibly long blonde hair and aggressive driving style. Thor also holds the distinction of being the only driver to ever threaten another driver with a long sword.

Holden Racing Team

The Holden Racing Team is one of the 2 Australian factory teams, and looks to unseat RedBull as the best Holden team in the championship. The team's driver lineup blends youth and experience, and are looking forward to a strong campaign.

Mark Downer is the team's lead driver and the patriotic Aussie is determined to take his team to the top. Mark made a name for himself in the V8 Utes Series and has used that success to move up to the World Super Truck Championship. Mark also gained some notoriety when he partook in a boxing match with a kangaroo as a publicity stunt.

Kieth Charlton is the team's second driver, and is not a slouch behind the wheel as well. Kieth earned his reputation racing modified lawnmowers in the Welsh countryside during his youth, before graduating to lorries around several English circuits. Charlton used this success with truck racing into the WSTC, and has joined the Holden Racing Team for the inaugural season.

Team Ford Australia

The 2nd Australian team, Team Ford Australia are one of the 2 factory Ford teams. They have elected to run the Australian Ford Ranger body style, and have brought their rivalry with the Holden's from Australia as well. The Holden/Ford rivalry is one of the most legendary in motorsports, and has followed the 2 manufacturers from down under to the worldwide scale.

Mark Dundredge is the team's lead driver. Dundredge, as well as his countryman Downer, made his name racing in the V8 Utes series. Dundredge was the new kid in town and ruffled some feathers upon entering, especially those of the longtime veteran Mark Downer, and the 2 carry not only the Ford/Holden rivalry, but their own personal rivalry.

Continuing with the youth movement for Ford, 20 year old Kiwi Zack Foley brings his talent to Ford. Foley began by racing speedway bikes on local dirt ovals before running the 24 Hours of Lemons at the ripe age of 16. His team's solid performance there inspired Zack to trade in 2 wheels for 4 and has graduated from the Toyota Racing Series to the World Super Truck Series.

Esparza Repsol Motorsports

Esparza Repsol Motorsports continues to be a small team doing big things. Owned by the flamboyant Spanish billionaire Raul Esparza, his namesake team has been working it's way up through the European motorsports ladder, and a team-up with Repsol leaves the Spanish team with high hopes of putting in some giant killing performances.

Keeping with the Spanish theme, Fernando Martinez is the team's lead driver. His presence is an important part of the deal with Repsol, and he brings Santander and Telefonica money with him. Martinez has spent much of his career in midfield equipment, but is known to pick up the pieces left behind by the front runners when things have gone wrong, and he's expected to continue that form.

Hailing from mother Russia, Svetlana Ernakova is the lone woman driver in the World Championship. Ernakova has been racing around eastern Europe without major backing, just relying on her talent to find rides. Now she finds herself teamed up with a fellow underdog team for her big break, and is eager to prove she belongs.

Fun fact, this was the first team I painted when making this set

Schaeffler Toyota AG

Don't let their numbers fool you, Schaeffler Toyota AG is one of the strongest and most organized teams in the WSTC. They're considered the sister team to Deutsche Post Toyota and share a friendly rivalry with their fellow German Toyota team. Their placement of 6th in the pre season constuctors ranking has left their drivers with a chip on their shoulder, and they plan to deliver. Unlike some of the other top teams, Schaeffler Toyota AG doesn't have a set number 1 and number 2 driver. Both are young and hungry for success.

Perhaps the most interesting driver in the series, Eskill Larsson comes from a Norwegian background but was unusually born in Antarctica during a 2 year expedition of the South Pole by his parents. Now at 22 years old, Eskill is ready to make his mark in the super truck racing world.

A German team needs a German driver, and Felix Rothschild is the man for this team. Felix is unlike most Germans though, with his Tom Chilton style blonde hair and eccentric sense of humor, Felix is popular within the paddock and also notorious for his penchant to prank fellow drivers and team members. Felix's enthusiasm shows in his driving style, as Felix is hailed as one of the most exciting young drivers in the world of super truck racing.

Schatner Formula Team

Schatner Formula Team, owned by former fashion icon Gregory Schatner, who had to step down from his own company SCMensWear in 2015 due to allegations of frequently taking a bath in moonshine in his office and then drinking the dirty bath water when done, is the series' top American team. They're known to be very patriotically American, but pundits are concerned that the New York based team's flamboyant millionaire owner may be a distraction.

Bruce Magnum is more American than you. As a kid he became a local celebrity in Fort Wayne, Indiana for his amateur stunts he performed on his modified lawn mower. At age 18, he moved to Hollywood to become a stunt driver and gained national attention when he jumped a car from one airplane to another in Fatal Justice. Now Bruce has moved to motorsports and his exuberant driving is guaranteed to make him a fan favorite.

Reluctantly hired as Schatner Formula Team's 2nd driver, Canadian Gordie MacDonald has joined despite not fitting Gregory Schatner's all-American lineup, though according to Schatner, he's "almost American so it counts." Hailing from Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, MacDonald played hockey for his hometown Edmonton Oilers' affiliate Bakersfield Condors while also pursuing a career in road racing. Now Gordie brings his talent and missing teeth from one too many hockey fights to the world scale.

Credit to @nj9703 for the team bio btw, don't blame me for that

Scuderia Toscani

No racing series is complete without an Italian team, and Scuderia Toscani fills that void in the WSTC. Pietro Toscani's eponymous team has been making a lot of off season headlines for their fiery owner's temper, but the workforce is determined to make their cars as fast as possible in spite of their issues. With big sponsorship deals from Lotto and Shell, Toscani has one of the healthiest bankrolls in the series, but critics believe it's being wasted.

If the team wasn't already enough of a hotbed with one fiery Italian around, throwing a second one in the mix will definitely make things interesting. Nobody doubts the talents of Petronio Milani, but his temper has gotten the best of him throughout his career. Despite not even turning a lap yet, tensions between Petronio and team owner Pietro are rising as the 2 have been blaming each other through the press for the team's lack of front running pace in the pre season tests.

Meanwhile on the other side of the garage, the quiet Finn Tarmo Pekkanen is the exact opposite. Content with just driving, Tarmo hasn't barely said a word in the off season and has focused on working and building his relationship within the team. Tarmo, being from Finland, predictably got his start through amateur rallying, and has used his nerves of steel required in rally racing to move to pavement.

Honda Team Takudo

Honda Team Takudo joins the WSTC unsure of what to expect on the season. Unlike their fellow Honda team Esparza, Keiji Takudo's outfit has suffered appalling reliability during the pre season (in typical Honda fashion). Viewed as the factory Honda team, Takudo enters the season with the goal of just finishing as many races as possible, and to try to take the fight to their fellow Honda and Japanese teams.

Perhaps the most important part in the Honda deal, Oshimoto Hyigara carries the flag for his home country of Japan. Much like his childhood hero Takuma Sato, Hyigara owes much of his career to his ties with Honda and his late braking banzai antics. Though inconsistent, Oshi's talents are never under question, though a driver with a reputation of wrecks may not be what a team with torrid reliability needs currently.

There is not much to say about Gene Hampton. Gene hails from Hartford, Connecticut and hasn't turned a lot of heads with his steady but unspectacular driving style. Hampton's sponsorship from Pioneer has bought his way into the WSTC with Takudo, and Hampton is just expected to fill out the field.

The next team is here, now with renders! I finally got around to learning 3DS Max. Big thanks to @crazyboy335 and @nj9703 for helping me learn 3DS Max and to Steven for modifying his scene for me.

Motul Nismo Racing

Nissan enters the series as one of the few full fledged factory manufacturer outfits. Motul Nismo Racing seems firmly planted at the back of the grid with their fellow Japanese teams, but it's not all doom and gloom. Unlike the Hondas, the Nissans have been very reliable in pre season testing and with 2 highly touted drivers on board, and a solid portfolio of sponsors. In most aspects, Motul Nismo Racing is approaching the season as a building season for 2020. Motul Nismo Racing is also unique in the sense that they field 2 liveries which aren't entirely identical, though they have recieved permission from the FIA to run them.

Jacques Rivous is the first Frenchman in the WSTC, and is one of the higher rated drivers in the series. Jacques has spent a good portion of his career in British Formula 3, tearing up the circuits across the UK. While riding around mid pack with Nissan may not be the opportunity he would like most, he's determined to make the best of it and become the face of the team.

In the second Motul Nissan, Antônio Oliveira represents the famous racing nation of Brazil. Brazil is responsible for some of the greatest racing drivers of all time, and Antônio hopes to be the next one. Starting in the Brazilian Stock Car Series through the 2010's, Oliveira made the jump to open wheelers through GP3. Though he hasn't found great success, Antônio has established a repertoire of solid finishes and has parlayed that into a ride in the WSTC.

Martin Graham Racing

Great Britain has a proud racing history throughout the world, and representing them is the small outfit named MGR. Martin Graham founded the team in the early 80's and has spent most of their existence fielding various British cars in local GT racing throughout the UK. Martin's team enters the WSTC running customer Toyotas with a portfolio of classic F1 sponsors.

There are 2 things every international racing series needs: An Italian and Marlboro sponsorship. MGR has both for the first season, with Gianfranco Billandi bringing the tobacco giant's sponsorship dollars to MGR. Gianfranco has spent the majority of his career racing GT cars and living a playboy life. MGR hopes he can stay focused on the job at hand, but Martin knows the risk he's taking with the talented Italian.

In the team's second truck, Ivan Kuznetzov represents mother Russia very proudly. A noted avid supporter of Vladimir Putin, Kuznetzov is very outspoken in his opinions and is unafraid to tussle with anyone. Starting in European F3, Ivan didn't have the funding to work his way up the ladder to Formula 1, but Martin Graham is willing to give the outspoken Russian a ride in the WSTC.

Ford Stromberg AG

Based in the heart of Stuttgart, Ford Stromberg AG has spent most of their racing history as a lower midfield team in Europe's racing scene. Claus Stromberg has done a solid job of building well presented race cars, but has achieved little in the name of success. The team has solid backing from Ford and German rail manufacturer Vossloh, and they've set their sights on qualifying for as many races as possible.

Austrian Ralf von Trappe enters with a solid portfolio of racing experience. Ralf hails from Salzburg and spent most of his career rally racing throughout Europe. Ralf has been very vocal about his displeasure with his truck's preseason performance, being quoted as saying "It's fitting we're sponsored by Vossloh because this thing turns about as well as a train." Despite this, Stromberg AG and von Trappe continue to work hard at moving up the grid and are determined to make the most out of the season.

In the team's other truck, Gabriel Pereira Sousa from the heat of Sao Paulo, Brazil, brings his talents to the world scale. Sousa has thoroughly proved himself, dominating Stock Car Brazil for the last handful of years. Unlike most drivers who have come from an open wheel background, Sousa's experience in heavy tin top racecars is projected to lead to great success in the WSTC, but first he must cut his teeth at the back of the grid and hope he can get the call up from the top teams.

Team Scotland Racing

Scotland doesn't have a rich history of m̶o̶t̶o̶r̶s̶p̶o̶r̶t̶s̶ building great cars (Originally said motorsports but dipshit here forgot about Jackie Stewart, Jim Clark, Dario Franchiti, David Coulthard, Tom Walkinshaw, and Colin McRae. Please stop yelling at me), but Finlay O'Robasdan plans to change that. Team Scotland Racing has a portfolio of Scottish sponsors and an all Scottish driver lineup, but the team has mysteriously been slow during practice. Finlay's boastful claims and reckless spending has turned eyes and the pundits have been having a field day with the team in preseason.

Angus MacHaggis MacDougal hops behind the wheel of the team's #26 truck, bringing ScotRail with him. Angus is an eccentric character and is the only driver who's prerace ritual includes a 12 minute bagpipe solo, much to the chagrin of the rest of the paddock. MacDougal also brings a reputation of ignoring all blue flags that don't resemble his nation's flag, also to the chagrin of the paddock.

In the team's #27, fellow Scot Tam O'Shanter the Bruce has also inexplicably made it to the WSTC, despite very little racing experience. A descendant of Clan Bruce, Tam O'Shanter claims to be Scottish royalty and has promised the team healthy sums of money to fund the project. Despite this, the team's lack of speed in the preseason suggests this money hasn't surfaced.
