From USAC's Twitter: "While leading, Clauson climbs the guard rail between turns 3/4. Flips heavily. He is hit by Ryan Greth in turn 4. Red flag - lap 14."

His car had supposedly flipped, and he was hit into the top of the roll cage by Ryan Greth. He was transported to hospital. There was also supposedly a tarp on the scene. He was airlifted from the Republic Co. Hospital to another hospital which wasn't named.

He is said to be barely alive, and unconscious, but they don't think he's going to make it through the night.

I hate it for him and his family. My thoughts are with him.

Saw that, that really sucks. I liked him and he was going to compete in the Knoxville Nationals this coming week. Probably a tarp because there was blood, which isn't good. Just like at last year's Knoxville Nats in Swindell's crash they brought out a tarp. When they bring a tarp it is a heart wrenching moment that scares everyone, especially in person.

The tarp is usually brought out for any roll cage hit in USAC. Not saying it was just for that, just that it is a common occurrence for crashes like that.

This was tweeted, and if it turns out true, it will be very good news.

I've liked Bryan since his Nascar days, truly one of the more talented drivers. Prayers to him and his loved ones.

As Noah (TruckSeries) said, he's in stable condition. Hopefully he pulls through this. To hear that is good news and I hope he makes it through.

Before they read it aloud on air, post it to social media, tell the world essentially, they should really check the credibility of these reports. It was a mistake but it was biggest and worst one too.

INDIANAPOLIS, Monday, Aug. 8, 2016 - The family of Indy 500 veteran and USAC champion driver Bryan Clauson released the following statement this morning: "Last night, the 7th of August, we said goodbye to our son, my fiancé, our friend, Bryan Clauson. He was surrounded by family and friends and we were grateful that we could experience his final moments with him. Our Bryan fought to the end with the same desire that he demonstrated behind the wheel of all the various race cars he would park in victory lane. However, we were more proud of our Bryan that took a moment to make a young fan's day, or demonstrated his uncommon kindness and appreciation toward his friends, family and fans. We would like to thank everybody who has shown their concern toward us and kept us in their prayers. We will never be able to truly thank you. We would also like to thank the staff at Bryan Medical Center who stood and fought with our Bryan since he arrived here early yesterday morning. We know that our Bryan is also your Bryan and that you would like to participate in honoring him. A service will be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at a date and time to be announced soon. In lieu of flowers, or to make a donation, people may direct their contributions to the USAC Benevolent Fund website at http://usacbf.org/cash-donation/
    upload_2016-8-8_8-13-45.gif
or checks should be made out to the USAC Benevolent Foundation in the name of Bryan Clauson. The address is 124 E Northfield Drive, Suite F #129, Brownsburg, IN 46112. Thank you for being a part of our Bryan's life.

RIP BC one of the best over all open wheel drivers. Glad I was able to see him win the Chili Bowl.
