Since I just posted this in another thread it applies here too

This was supposed to be Jeff Purvis’s 2001 JGR Busch car. Sponsor bailed before Daytona, Purvis ended up winning a race for RCR instead that season

Edit:
And also this was supposed to be David Stremme’s 2009 scheme before it became Verizon (w/ the checkmark but no “verizon” text)
Stremme’s name is on the namerail here

I think it ran 1999 July race at Daytona as the 55
May Have to research it, but Kenny Wallace was in the 55 Square D car, Schrader still in the 33 skoal, I don't think Oakwood Homes came on till 2000 with Joe Nemechek as the driver of the 33.

You’re right, my bad it was the 98 Pepsi 400 and I think it was Hut Strickland driving I think

I'm interested in the stories behind the 2003 Kodak 1 and 2001-2002 Pennzoil 81. Kodak was on the McClure 4 back then. Were they planning on jump ship to DEI with Steve Park?

I could be wrong, but I think I remember going through the Jayski news archives and reading about Kodak jumping ship to sponsor John Andretti for a full Nextel Cup season in 2004. That scheme was possibly designed before Nextel announced their title sponsorship.

Yep, though I think Jeff Green was in the mix for the 1 as well.

As for the 81 car, Kenny Wallace subbed for Park at the beginning of '02 while Park was still recuperating from the Darlington crash. It was rumored that if Kenny shot out of the starting blocks and did well, then that 81 would have ran as a fourth full-time DEI car.

Never seen that Pennzoil #81 before, cool stuff. At first glance I thought it was an extra JGR car that never ran but the style of the 8 isn't quite right and the 1 is definitely different.
