"Apparently we didn't reach the line in time, or our lap didn't count or something. Starting dead last. Stupid. Tired of this season."

Engines have fired and we're ready to kick off the 2016 Chase for the Championship. 2016 Chaser Brendan Gorman will lead the field down to the line along with the 2015 series champion, Trey Coleman.

GREEN FLAG: Trey Coleman gets a better start on the outside, we'll see who wins the battle down to turn 1.

Lap 1: Brendan Gorman finally clears Trey Coleman through turn 3 and will lead lap 1. He already has company looking to the inside as they head back into turn 1 in the form of fellow Chaser Connor Root.

Lap 2: LEAD CHANGE: Connor Root presents the nose to the inside of Brendan Gorman off into turn 1. He'll finally clear the #19 through turn 3.

Ryan Cole got punted off to the inside down the backstraightaway. After some three wide contact between himself, Noah Joyce, and Connor Mire, everyone gets away with no issues.

Lap 3: Top 4 have broken away from the rest of the field just a little bit. Inside that lead 4, Brendan Peavy takes 2nd away from Kyle Corbett.

Lap 4: CAUTION #1: Quite an eventful lap with what appears to be three or four separate incidents. One of which will be sending a Chase contender to the garage.

Connor Mire is the leader at the caution.

First incident occurs off of turn 4 when Tim Johnston hooks John Hooper Sr. down into Joshua Michaels. Hooper's car would slide back up the track and into the outside wall.

    richmond_caution_1_1.png

The second incident occurs at the entrance of turn 1 as Ben Althen shoots the gap between Bobby Farrell and Connor Mire

    richmond_caution_1_2.png

Looks like contact with the right side of Mire's car sends the #29 around and into the outside wall.

    richmond_caution_1_3.png

And incident number three happens once again in turn 4 as Devin Mahoney turns Jacob Craigo into Greg Woodard.

    richmond_caution_1_4.png

Both cars end up around and in the outside wall.

Lap 11: Pit road is open. Connor Mire is the only taker. Looks like he got into the back of someone while they stacked up because of English's spin.

Sean English has to make a cut to the left to stay off of his teammate, Kyle Corbett. Unfortunately, this sends himself across the nose of Bob Laryson.

    richmond_caution_2_1.png

The back end of English's car swings around and he catches the right rear quarter panel against the inside wall.

    richmond_caution_2_2.png

Things got quite a bit tense as English's car slid off the wall and back out onto the track. Fortunately for everyone else, English's car doesn't make it all the way back out to the racing groove and everyone else was able to get their cars slowed down enough to get by without an issue.

Lap 12: Only 12 laps in and Connor Mire's car already looks like it's been through an entire race. The nose is knocked in and the hood is now missing from the #29 car.
