B&T Motorsports Parts Way With Towianski, Looking to Redevelop National Team for 2018

B&T Motorsports earlier this week announced that driver Joe Towianski would not return to the team after 4+ seasons with the team. The team has already filled his vacant cup seat with rookie Jakub Smetana, but the National ride remains vacant. Owner Tim Kunkel has expressed interest in redeveloping the series lineup, and bringing in new drivers to contend for the National title in 2018. "We need a farm system and to get our drivers to contend for titles and not just wins for nothing."

PM me if interested in the ride, only if you intend to drive for this series only.

Zumwalt to return to National Series, Compete full-time for championship

One of the winningest drivers in Cup series competition is stepping down to the National level to compete for a title. Zumwalt, the long time veteran cup driver, is coming off his final season of Cup competition and has now announced his plans to step down to the National Series to compete for the championship. Partnering with KM Racing, Zumwalt will be back behind the wheel of the #21 Ford full-time in 2018. No confirmed sponsors to this point, however Zumwalt did say he was very close to finalizing deals that would cover the full season.

GameStop Announces Partnership with Wichelman, OPP; Unveils Daytona Scheme:
Friday morning a press conference was held at OPP, Inc headquarters to announce GameStop as Matt Wichelman's 2018 primary sponsor. It was announced that the video game retailer would be sponsoring an upwards of about ten races . Wichelman will roll into Daytona in February sporting the colors of Player Unknown's Battlegrounds alongside GameStop in order to promote the recent release of PUBG on Xbox One.

"I'm really excited to have GameStop jump on board our #11 Camry this season. It's gonna be really nice seeing the GameStop logo in victory lane," Wichelman said.

Alongside PUBG, GameStop will sport quite a few other video games on board the 11 car throughout the season.

I hope to have a team chart and everything for the 2018 season setup sometime over the weekend. We'll also get claims for Dodge teams squared away this weekend.

KM Racing signs rookie for #86 NNS ride in 2018.

As announced earlier KM Racing will be running two full-time entries in the upcoming NNS series season. European rookie Hustin Jawkins gets the opportunity to show his talent in an American based racing series. Jawkins, who has been driving in several F3-Series in Europe during the last couple of years, will face his first oval races and full-time appereance in US-Stock Cars with KM Racing. After also participating in LMP2-class of ELMS-series in 2017, Jawkins declined any Formula 2 offers for 2018 leaving his longtime monoposto team Ledfoot Racing INC. for a try on American racing. Michael Ledfoot Sr., manager of Hustin Jawkins, went to Daytona for meeting team officials and came up with the #86 seat at KM Racing. "Hustin always had his mind set on moving over to US-Racing. We knew that we couldn't keep him racing formula cars in Europe forever. So we're glad our sponsor Europcar used their contacts with National Car Rental and KM Racing to give Hustin the chance he's always been looking for", Ledfoot explained during a radio broadcast.

Hustin Jawkins' NNS Mustang will be sponsored by National Car Rental, Snickers and Alamo Car Rental.

Zack, we've got Matt running in the Cup series for no points and not be eligible for ROTY. Does he count against us for the one slot, or since he's running for the NNS Championship, he's in one of the two remaining slots?

So we can't have multiple Cup drivers splitting time in a single seat? If there were 50 users all clamoring for openings, that'd make sense. However, the field went from 41 cars at Miami in 2016 to 34 in 2017. Making changes should allow for more entries, not less.

I was referring more so to the Dodge swap thing, but as for that rule, we only had 19 total drivers score points this past season in a 34-car field. The field was basically split half and half.

Cup drivers can all split a single seat for no points, or halve the races with a non-Cup driver for a shared championship. I don't really want to see Cup drivers running full-time in two cars in a three-car team if we can absolutely help it.

That makes sense - just don't want the series turning into a real-world CWTS with only 20-odd entries every week.

KM Racing Looking for Two Part-Time Drivers to Pilot the 68

With sponsorship already secured, all KM Racing needs butts in seats for the 68 car. Missimer is putting a callout to all Ford-affiliated drivers to see who is willing to drive the car for 4-8 events this season. Sponsorship is being provided by Amazon Prime, Boost Mobile, Glock, and Bass Pro Shops [BPS races already filled by Jon Peterson].
