Sonoma is my home track and I honestly didn't know Infineon was a sponsor until I started seeing their logo on Audi's Le Mans cars

It shows how relatively ineffective naming rights sponsorships are. I'm not a fan of them. Ask people where the Honda Center is and they won't know unless they're an NHL fan. Ask people where the Georgia Dome is, and unless they're the kind who asks what time the 3:00 parade is, they'll at least know what state it's in.

Don't feel bad about Infineon guys. When I was a kid and Magic Johnson & Kareem were playing for the Lakers, I honestly thought the name "Great Western Forum" referred to a pretty cool place near the Pacific Ocean that looked like a Greek building. It took years for me to realize that Great Western was the name of a bank.

After two years of hard work and renovations, ISM Raceway is finally finished and ready to go in it's new configuration. The lights were turned on the other night to test the new lighting system installed for pit lane and what is now Turns 3 and 4 (the old Turns 1 and 2).

That seating setup is about the most ignorant design I've ever seen.

I can name 3 more ignorant things than the seats:

    1. Being told that having grass in the new turns 3/4 wouldn't work because it's "too hard to maintain", when a. other tracks have larger, grassy areas that are kept up quite nicely, and b. it was maintained without known issue for, what.... At least 20 years? Besides, even if real grass is too difficult, AstroTurf has been proven to work ala the Roval.

    2. That large walled area between turns 3/4 and the pit lane? Yeah, apparently that's gonna be a billboard for a single sponsor of the track instead of being a large, grassy patch with several sponsors and the race logo.

    3. Getting rid of the Night Race back in 2011.... As well as getting rid of the grass....

Not a fan of anything they did, to be honest. Should've left it the way it was, as it was pretty good from the bits and pieces of the races I watched over the past several years.

Would you rather be blinded by the Arizona sun or see the whole track and be in shade?

I think they should put grass in what used to be turns 1 and 2....that asphalt patch between the race track and pit lane looks horrific. I'll wait to see how racing develops next Sunday to see if they did or did not screw the track up with the new configuration.

You don't live here do you? Have you even paid attention to where the sun is during the later half of the race? This is the best possible seating arrangement for this track factually speaking. You want the old stands back you gotta rotate the track about 90 degrees counter-clockwise first.

Seems a bit silly they kept pit road largely the same. Probably could have ditched the giant ass wall protected sponsor for some pit road action closer to the stands. But hey, at least Nazareth got put back on the schedule. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
