Carl Edwards was my only favorite driver. I will now be a Daniel Suarez fan, and he will be great next season.

Jamie McMurray misses the chase by a couple points, no wins and a couple top 5's.
Kyle Larson gets two more wins, makes it to round of 8.
Austin Dillon still doesn't earn first career win.
Paul Menard barely makes the chase.
Stewart Haas has a tough time with the switch to Ford. Team scores two wins in total.
Kasey Kahne scores first win since 2014, makes it to round of 12. Leaves HMS to go to xfinity full time for Jr Motorsports after season finishes. (Even though he's been my favorite driver for 12 years, I really can't see him staying with them and performing like he used to.)
Chase Elliott wins at Talladega and Dover.
    Clint Bowyer wins at Pocono.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. wins at Daytona.
Erik Jones scores top 5's at Michigan, Atlanta, Martinsville, and both Kansas races.
Martin Truex Jr. wins the championship.

That's all I could think of for now

Kinda tardy to the party but here is how I think it will go:
The new format will be a huge success in making races more exciting and will help in making races more competitive.
Stewart-Haas Racing runs better than ever after switching to Ford with Harvick winning 4 races, Busch and Bowyer each winning 2, and Danica running top 15 consistently every week.
Dale Earnhardt Jr comes back better than ever winning at Texas, Talladega, and Michigan.
Chase Elliott starts hitting his stride with 3 wins and a trip to the round of 8.
Johnson has a typical Jimmie Johnson season. Wins a few races early then stinks for the summer and shows up during the playoffs.
Unlike his teammates, Kasey Kahne continues to struggle. He's out of Hendrick at the end of the year and Alex Bowman takes over the 5 car duties at the beginning of 2018.
The rookies Erik Jones and Daniel Suárez drive like Cup veterans in 2017. Jones wins 2 races and R.O.T.Y. and Suárez wins 1 race.
Toyota continues its dominance with a 2016-like season.
Teams like Roush and Petty see improvements after dropping one car from the team. Almorola and Stenhouse barely make the playoffs on points.
Final four will be Harvick, Johnson, Truex, and Kyle Busch. Truex wins Homestead and the Championship.

    Trucks: Christopher Bell

I predict wreckfests at the plate tracks, especially with the whole "segment" format. Everyone going crazy at lap 49 to get into the top ten for the bonus points at lap 50 in the 500....

Interesting to see all the 88 picks for the Goody's 500...
Of course Hendrick has won it the last 5 years.

The only thing I do not like about the new format is that a driver can lead the first two segments, obtain 20 points, then fail to finish the race and score up to 15+ points on another driver that slogged his guts out all day to actually finish the race. That's the problem with it all for me, I don't know how you can justify or award more points to a driver or team that failed to make the distance.

To me, the bonus points should only be eligible if you manage to finish in the top 10 at the completion of the race.

That being said, I think I like the idea and I'm late to the party and missed all the fun in the OG thread, so here's my take. =p

Ratings will significantly drop throughout this season... Radical marketing strategies from Monster will start kicking in, to try and drag anyone out there to bring their rear ends into the grandstands closest to them... Monster will eventually have to put pressure on NASCAR by the seasons end to seriously correct the direction of the ship for 2018...

-Furniture Row has a challenging time getting #78 & #77 into the winners circle. I say Martin Truex Jr. does end up with one win though, but doesn't last long in the "playoffs".

-JGR also has a hard time getting their cars back to the position they were in this season. Maybe having the rookie in the #19 slows the operation down a little bit for this season... Kyle finds two victories, Sonoma & 1st New Hampshire race... Kenseth wins Spring Bristol. The rest of JGR is shut out of the winners circle.

-Johnson & Logano dominate the win column this season, each with at least 4 victories a piece...

-SHR comes out of the gate strong this season... looks as if the change to Ford will not slow them down...Harvick gets a couple wins early in the year... by summer time, they are all having a tough time running top 5 and top 10...

-Dale Jr. leads points after first 7 or 8 races, maintaines top three spot in points majority of first 26 races... collects many top fives and top 10's... but only 1 win during the first 26 races.

Monster Final 4: Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth and Denny Hamlin

    Monster Champion: Denny Hamlin

First-time Race Winners in 2017: Ryan Blaney, Erik Jones and Chase Elliott (2 wins)

Comebacks: Ryan Newman, Jamie McMurray and Dale Earnhardt Jr all make it back to victory lane.

Winless: Clint Bowyer and Austin Dillon will not make it to victory lane in 2017.

    Random Craziness:
Greg Biffle will replace someone at some point in 2017.
