Everybody should know about this website: http://everynoise.com/

Everynoise is one gargantuan map/scatterplot of over 3000-and-counting music genres. As described by the site itself, lower on the map is more organic, higher is more electronic, left is denser and atmospheric, and right is spikier and bouncier.

But what I think the REAL service this site performs is in its Spotify playlist generation. Navigate to the "list" section at the top of the site. Find your favorite genre and click on it. Not only will it order all the other genres by how close they sound to the one you chose, but it will also have a massive 200-700 song (in my experience) Spotify playlist of music representing that genre.

The genre ordering is an absolutely fantastic way of perusing new music genres you'll probably like, and the playlist generation is a phenomenal way of discovering a looooottttt of music within your own preferred genres you may not have heard of.

There's a slew of other things to tinker around with on there. Check it out. If you don't, you're doing yourself a disservice.

Oh that is really neat. That will come in quite handy while I'm working on something.

decorated warriors drill harmless kids on pavement
simulating tyranny under red alert
protecting the opulent and staging moral standard
they expect redemption of character and self-growth

hate is a simple manifestation
of the deep-seated self-directed frustration
all it does is promote fear and constrenation
it's the inability
to justify the enemy
and it fills us all with trepidation

Now I didn't make up the rules
But clearly we are led by fools
It is wise to know their ways
So you know how not to behave
But sometimes we find ourselves in desperate need
And we look to those with privilege and power
It's then we learn compassion sits inert on their shelves
We're at the mercy of imbeciles

Welcome to the show
History took a toll
Discontent was sown
But now the child is grown
And come into his own
A superstar
But despite all illusion we approach the darkest hour

FUCK I LOVE THIS BAND

So I was screwing around on everynoise.com looking at the "Pixie" genre (Apparently that's a specific subgenre that Paramore is in) and found this pretty cool group by the name of Yours Truly. I like them, very "old-school Paramore" vibe to me

On this day, 25 years ago, one of my favorite albums of all time, and what some say is the best British album of all time, Definitely Maybe, was released. Ironically, this is following yesterday, August 28th, which was the 10th anniversary of Noel Gallagher quitting the band and Oasis ceasing to exist. Also yesterday, Liam Gallagher released a music video for one of his new singles which is jam packed with symbolism relating to the three Gallagher brothers. So here's that and two of my favorite songs off of DM.

In an avant-garde mood today

Fun fact, one of those caused a riot, one didn't. Might be surprised at which is which.

Shortly after attending my second Twenty One Pilots concert of the year, they released a rearranged version of Hype, which is a vastly different sound from the original. Interested to see what other songs from Trench they do in this re-imagined styling. I've liked all three they've released so far (the others being Chlorine and Cut My Lip)
And here's the original if there's some reason you haven't heard it...

One of my friends used to do CoD editing and used this song in one of his more popular edits. I actually really like it
